We aim to describe scenarios of sustainable livestock production in the boreal forest that are compatible with large carnivore presence, and compatible or even positive for the other ecosystem services, based on previous and new scientific knowledge and user experience. We expect the outcome of the scenarios to vary with spatial factors, such as landscape productivity, presence of young forest stands, human density, roads, and farming infrastructure. We therefore aim to build spatial models that will help users and land use managers to adapt and optimize outfield-based livestock production locally.
