When wolves become parents for the first time
Updated: Dec 2, 2021
We published an article in Proceedings of the Royal Society!
It is about when wolves become parents for their first time. This is an important life history trait, because it affects population growth. We found that the age of first reproduction depended on population size (Allee effect at low population size and competition for mates and vacant territories at higher densities). Inbreeding was also important – strongly inbred females reproduced later.
